Topics

Technical sessions will be organised around the following areas broadly including all aspects of nanotechnology and advanced materials science:

  • Functional materials
  • Future devices and technologies
  • Materials and devices for energy sustainability
  • Materials and technologies for biological applications
  • Material synthesis and characterisation
  • Quantum technologies
  • Soft Matter
  • Theory and modelling of materials and devices

You will have the opportunity to indicate your areas of interest through the online abstract submission process.

Abstract Format

Please keep the total length of your abstract to within one page of the template.  The abstract must be submitted in the template provided as a word document and must adhere to the guidelines detailed therein and should outline the aims and content of the presentation.

You will also be asked to submit a short biography during the submission process of up to 200 words.

Presentation Formats

Oral presentations 

Will be allocated:

  • 50 minutes plus 5 min discussion (Plenary);
  • 40 minutes plus 5 min discussion (Keynote);
  • 25 minutes plus 5 min discussion (Invited);
  • 15 minutes plus 5 min discussion

Posters presentations

Posters will be on display for the day of presentation. You will be asked to be by your poster during the breaks and evening poster session for the day you are allocated.

Each poster will be allocated a 2m high x 1m wide board (portrait style), the poster must fit within this area.  The boards are covered in a material that is suitable for fixing the poster using Velcro hooks.   Note: given the space restrictions computer/monitors or small tables in front of the posters boards cannot be used. 

Abstract Review

Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the programme committee who will do their best to accommodate the wishes of the submitters for oral or poster presentations.

However, it is expected that due to the large number of submissions that some requests for oral presentations will have to be assigned as posters.  If your submission is not accepted for an oral presentation it is not a reflection of the quality of your submission but rather due to time constraints and the need to ensure all aspects of the conference topics are adequately covered.

The organisers reserve the right to reject submitted abstracts that are poorly written, do not follow the submission guidelines and/or are outside the scope of the conference. 

Presenter Registration

All presenters will be required to pay the relevant registration fee to attend AMN9 and to meet their own travel and accommodation costs.

Presenters need to register and pay by 1 December 2018 otherwise their paper risks being removed from the programme.

Audio Visual Equipment

Each room at the conference venue will have a minimum of the following:

  • Data projector
  • Laptop
  • Screen

Presenters should bring their presentation on a memory stick.  A technician will be onsite to load your presentation. 

Re-accessing your Abstract Submission

When you submit your abstract you will be given an access key.  If you wish to submit a new abstract or replace an existing abstract you can do this through the abstract link prior to the closing date of 5pm 10 August 2018 (New Zealand Standard Time).

Publishing of Abstracts

All abstracts are subject for publication prior to the conference. If you do not wish to have your abstract printed, please advise us at the time of submitting your abstract.
